May holiday trip Xining – Chengdu

In the recent May 2012 holiday we drove with our car from Xining to Chengdu.  This is about 900 km one way. It took us about 18 hours one way.  On the way to Chengdu we stayed at Ruo’ergai for one night. On the way back with did this trip in one go. The trip went for the Majority through Tibetan areas in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan. We were never stopped at checkpoints, we had no problems with the car and enjoyed the beautiful areas. The altitude of this trip varied from 2200 meter in Xining with mountain passes of 4000 meter high to finally getting to Chengdu with an altitude of only a few hunderd meter.  We took the following route:   Xining – Tongren – Henan – Luqu – Ruo’ergai – SongPan – Wenchuan –  Chengdu – Songpan – Ruo’ergai – Hezuo – Linxia – Xunhua – Xining.
